Between Structure & Transformation

Artist Statement | Roxy Megyesi

Through geometric tension, fractured forms, and the interplay of light and shadow, my work explores the spaces between limitation and expansion. Each piece is a study of transformation—of identity breaking free, of shedding imposed boundaries, and of the journey toward self-discovery and true meaning.

With a background in architecture and design, I see the built environment as both a constraint and a canvas. My work blends structured geometry with abstract storytelling, creating compositions that challenge perception and invite reflection. The rigid framework of urban landscapes collides with fluid, organic elements, capturing the tension between control and emergence, structure and emotion.

At its core, my art is about breaking through—a pause before movement, a moment of light cutting across rigid form, or a subject dissolving beyond its physical shell. My own journey has been shaped by the necessity of stillness—an unexpected pause that led me to rediscover strength through yoga, sketching, and self-exploration. In that space, I realized that transformation begins with awareness.

By integrating urban photography, AI-generated elements, and digital painting, I reconstruct reality—layering space, movement, and identity into a single visual language. My work is an invitation to pause, reflect, and awaken—to recognize the boundaries we unconsciously build and the possibilities that lie beyond them. Each piece is a visual exploration of how we push past limitations, redefine ourselves, and step into something greater.
